A proposal will be presented to the Parliament in coming days regarding the increase of several allowances for Parliamentarians including the National List MPs.
This proposal will include a monthly office allowance of Rs. 100,000 to maintain an office for each parliamentarian from January 2017, and to increase the current parliament sitting allowance from Rs. 500 to Rs. 2500.
The proposal made by Gayantha Karunathilaka, Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media to present the above proposal to the parliament for provision was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
