President’s Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya made a startling revelation regarding an initial report compiled on the Central Bank Bond Transaction. The President’s Counsel made this statement during a recording of the News 1st’s Hot Seat Programme.
President’s Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya noted:
”I think it is the first time that I am exposing this. Mr. Wickremesinghe sent that report, along with some other reports,to the Attorney General. The AG received the report and then the Attorney General then, the acting Attorney General, decided to make an inquiry and made it a criminal file and sent it to the appropriate DSG to inquire into this. Then what happened?”
He added that the file was called back by the former Attorney General, Yuvanjana Wijethilake, who then took it from the criminal division and it was sent to the civil division to find out whether there was a civil wrong.
” So you can see how the Attorney General’s Department has been directed by someone to wash this thing completely off and the file is still stagnating….” added Hemantha Warnakulasuriya.
