Paris was in mourning on Sunday, November 13 – the first anniversary of the terror attacks that killed 130 people.
Memorial services were held across the city at the six sites of the attacks – cafes, restaurants, the Stade de France stadium and the Bataclan theater – to remember those massacred by Islamic State gunmen in a series of coordinated attacks on the night of the same date last year, 2015.
Outside the Bataclan concert hall, which witnessed the most fatalities, mourners lit candles and placed flowers next to a memorial plaque as the names of more than 80 people who perished there were read aloud in solemn ceremony.
For many Parisians, it remained an emotional day filled with shock, grief and anger, but also represented a call for unity and peace.
