The Department of Meteorology says that the depression in the South-west Bay of Bengal has developed into a deep depression and now located around 480km away from Trincomalee coast, to the east of Sri Lanka and it is likely to intensify further in to a cyclonic storm during next 12 hours.
It is expected to move north-westward closer to Jaffna peninsula.
Under the influence of the above system very strong winds and heavy showers are expected in the Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces, until 02nd December.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces.
Heavy falls more than 100 mm can be expected at some places.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in Western, North-Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.
