Long wait for those displaced by Aranayake landslide – health hazards at camps

It has been six months since the landslide in the Saamasara Hill in Aranayake. The lives that collapsed with the landslide, continues to be restricted to displaced camps.

The people of three villages including Siripura and Elagapitiya faced an unexpected tragedy at an unforeseen moment, when a landslide occurred on the Samasara hill in Aranayake on May 17.

The people who were displaced continues to live in camps set up in Aranayake Willpola, Ussapitiya, Pamunuwa, Rathgampola, Moragammana and Narangammana areas

Our correspondent noted that with rain water seeping into camp sites, the people living in the camps are facing many health issues.

The displaced persons charge that they did not receive the food coupon that they suppose to get for the past three weeks.
