On Tuesday, November 29, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked BJP MPs and MLAs to submit details of their bank account transactions between November 8 and December 31 to party President Amit Shah.
November 8, was when the Indian Prime Minister announced that the old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes would be scrapped at midnight.
December 31, was announced as the deadline date for depositing demonetized notes in bank accounts.
The Indian PM’s instructions were given at a BJP Parliamentary meeting, which followed allegations by the opposition parties that the BJP had tipped off some of its own leaders ahead of the demonetization announcement.
However, the government has flatly denied those accusations, but the opposition points to a land-buying spree undertaken by the BJP in Bihar before demonetization was ordered.
