Four arrests made over assault on Dharmaraja College student

Police made four arrests in connection to the incident where a student of Dharmaraja College, Kandy was assaulted opposite the school.

A video of an assault on a student in Kandy by a group has gone viral on social media.The victim of the assault is a grade 13 student.

The assaulted student said, on Monday:

A grade 12 student told me to cut my hair while in school. He used profanity, therefore I was enraged, and slapped him.

This matter was then resolved at the Principal’s Office”, he added, “But when school was over at 01:30, an unidentified group attacked me”.

The principal of the college, speaking on the issue said:

On the 21st morning an issue was reported between a school prefect and a grade 13 student with regard to the latter’s hair cut.

He said that he warned the students involved and that it was resolved.

The report prepared by police on the assault on the student by a group of ruffians was handed over to Minister Sagala Ratnayaka on Wednesday evening
