Two ministers from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) say that the COPE Report should be one that could penalise those involved in the Central Bank bond scam. Media Spokesperson of the SLFP State Minister Dilan Perera says that the COPE report should be used in parliament to discuss and recommend the steps that need to be taken.
He adds:
We should not let any political party use it in a way they please. If we let that happen, some might put the blame on the son-in-law and safeguard the father-in-law. Some will do it the other way around. Or some will try to safeguard both of them.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the UPFA Minister Mahinda Amaraweera notes that the president had clearly stated that this issue will be directed to an independent and an impartial judicial system, excluding politicians.
He points out that rogues from both government needs to be nabbed.
