Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, speaking at a media briefing today, November 01, made an announcement on the On-Site Report of the Bank with regard to Perpetual Treasuries.
Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy said, there are two exercises which are underway. One is the On-Site Examination Report on Perpetual Treasuries undertaken by the non-bank financial institutions department of the Central Bank – and that report was presented to the Monetary Board on Monday, October 31.
“The Monetary board had a discussion on that report”, he added. “It has requested various departments of the Central Bank to undertake more work in specific areas to enable the Monetary Board to take an informed decision as to what the monetary board feels should be done in relation to the findings of the On-Site Report,and the board will have another meeting on Friday when we will discuss this further. And certainly the commitment i sensed among the boards members is that they want to go where the evidence leads them”, he said.
