Budget reduces MRP of several commodities

Budget for year 2017 presented yesterday in parliament by Finance Minster Ravi Karunanayake proposed to reduce the maximum retail price of several commodities.


Green gram by Rs. 15 per Kg, Dhal by Rs.10per Kg, Potatoes by Rs.5 per Kg, Sprats by Rs.5 per Kg, White Sugar by Rs. 2 per Kg, Kerosene by Rs.5 per litre, and LP Gas by Rs. 25 per12.5Kg domestic cylinder.

 

Minister noted that VAT will not be applicable on LP Gas and proposed to maintain the price of a 400 g locally produced milk power at Rs.295, and 425g locally produced canned fish at Rs. 125.
