President Maithripala Sirisena has given instructions to the officials to hold an impartial and independent inquiry into the incident of death of two Jaffna University students and to submit that report to the courts.
Following is the statement made by President Maithripala Sirisena-
I deeply saddened on hearing the news of death of two Jaffna University students.
As soon as I heard the news, I have given instructions to the officials to hold an impartial and independent inquiry into the incident as well as to submit the relevant report to the courts.
Accordingly, investigations in this regard will be done continuously without any interruption.
As well as, a decision has been taken to provide compensation to the parents of the victims.
