President Maithripala Sirisena says, a policy decision has been reached to grant monthly wages to disabled war heroes during their lifetime, in addition to their pension payment.
The president made this statement while addressing a ceremony at the BMICH auditorium on
Thursday, October 27.
Accordingly, the president said that this allocation has been included into the 2017 budget proposal and that regardless of the criticisms he received, he will not change the policies in place, to ensure national security.
The head of state added, he will always be bound to ensure the integrity of the armed forces.
