Fifty six fishermen who used illegal fishing equipment off the coast of Seelawathura and Arippuwa have been arrested.
Navy Spokesperson Captian Akram Alavi said that the fishermen were arrested in operations that were conducted during the past three days.
The equipment used by the arrested fishermen was also seized by the Navy.
