Dual Citizenship certificates for 800 Sri Lankans living overseas were given recently by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs S.B. Nawinna at a ceremony held recently at the ministry premises.
The Dual citizenship scheme was introduced to Sri Lanka in 1987. The mechanism of awarding the dual citizenship was amended in 2015.
