News1st made inquiries from UNP MP Harshana Rajakaruna over the stance held by the UNP Members of COPE yesterday.
“We completed the task sucessfully and independently without any interference”, said MP Rajakaruna
He added:
Even though charges were levelled against the members of the United National Party, in the end, the country will realise that we completed this task in a very independent and truthful manner. And that all members of COPE, including those of the UNP, are committed to safeguarding the trust placed by the people of this country on the 8th of January and the 17th of August.
“In carrying out our duties, we have been able to fulfill and protect the wishes and dreams of the people and the trust placed in us”, he said
