Police arrested two suspects in Anuradhapura over the alleged possession of counterfeit currency of Rs.100, Rs.1000 and Rs.5000 denominations.
Police said that 20 five thousand rupee notes, four 1000 rupee notes and seven 100 rupee notes were taken into custody. Police added that the suspect was arrested when he produced one of the 5000 rupee counterfeit notes to a store.
The arrested suspects, 25 and 22 years of age are residents of Galenbindunuwewa.
